Dart Announces PowerTCP WebServer Tool

Web Applications can now be deployed as robust compiled applications!

Syracuse, N.Y. - February 25, 2000 - Dart Communications, the market leader of Internet Application Development Tools, is offering an attractive alternative for web application developers who want to work within proven application development environments like Visual Basic, Delphi, and Visual C++. The PowerTCP® WebServer Tool is a software component that developers simply add to their preferred development environment, turning any application into a stand-alone web server.

Web applications are usually created using scripting and CGI techniques, and are run by large, general-purpose web server engines like Microsoft Internet Information Server®. Traditional web application development requires a skill set that is new to many seasoned software developers. Using the WebServer Tool, developers can simply add a software component to their application, and continue to benefit from the richness of their chosen development environment. It’s also easier to reuse client/server code by adding a web interface to existing applications. Web applications can now be deployed as robust compiled applications, and the server address and port can be easily configured so multiple web applications can be installed on a single NT server.

"Since the product launch on February 16, developers have responded in droves," says Julie Consler, Marketing Manager. "With the exploding demand for web application development, the PowerTCP WebServer Tool fills a serious void in development options."

"As a Visual C++ and Visual Basic developer, the last thing I wanted to do last year was learn Visual InterDev® so I could edit our web site content," says Michael Baldwin, President of Dart Communications. "I became painfully aware of the limitations that web developers live with. Now there’s a better way. With the WebServer Tool, our customers can develop complex web applications using their preferred development environment. It often makes sense to develop applications that are independent of tradition Web Server run-time support."

The PowerTCP WebServer Tool is available now and lists for $999. All developed web applications can be distributed royalty-free. HTTP and HTTPS version 1.1 is supported. Additional information can be found at www.dart.com.
