Rome, N.Y.- December 22, 2003-
Dart Communications, a leading provider of Internet Development Components and Services, announced today the release of PowerTCP Emulation for .NET. This new addition to Dart’s PowerTCP product line enhances Microsoft’s .NET Framework with the ability to emulate VT-52, VT-100, VT-220 and VT-320, plus includes native components that add stream-based Telnet, rexec, rsh, and rlogin capability for client to server communications.
PowerTCP Emulation for .NET enables the development of applications in .NET that can communicate with legacy applications or any server that supports VT-52, VT-100, VT-220 and VT-320 terminals. The Vt control is a powerful terminal emulator that enables you to build your own custom terminal emulation applications from within .NET. Built-in Telnet capability, built using the best-selling PowerTCP Telnet for .NET component, enables the Vt control to start a session with as little as one line of code. Also includes a custom font class for support of VT graphic characters, a FontDialog control that displays all fixed width raster and True-Type fonts, the ability to interrogate every cell for comprehensive style information, and powerful printing capability.
"With PowerTCP Emulation for .NET, Dart is taking its longstanding expertise in terminal emulation to the .NET world.” said Alex Gladshtein, Director of the Product Group. “For years we have provided customers in the C++ and ActiveX environments with the ability to build custom terminal emulation applications, and with this product, .NET developers will be able to have the same benefits, plus take advantage of the great development features of Visual Studio .NET 2003."
All components included in PowerTCP Emulation for .NET are designed for ease-of-use, but are still extensible to account for more complex architectural requirements. Documentation is natively integrated into the Visual Studio IDE and includes comprehensive tutorials in addition to the reference guide.
PowerTCP Emulation for .NET can be used for projects such as building custom Windows .NET terminal emulation applications and back-end ASP.NET application that allow you to upload data to a UNIX host, process it, and bring back the results.
PowerTCP Emulation for .NET is available immediately. Additional information about this product, and a 30-day trial download, can be found at Dart Communications’ website http://www.dart.com.
